Hunt for Healthcare

We are asking our community to rally their friends, family, and networks to support our work by starting a fundraising team as part of CRASH (Clinic Race And Scavenger Hunt). CRASH is a FUNdraiser event that supports the free healthcare that Clinic by the Bay provides low-income, uninsured adults in San Francisco. The third edition of CRASH will take place on Saturday, October 19th in downtown SF, starting/ending in Portsmouth Square.

CRASH is a team-based scavenger hunt that sends adults running through the Financial District, North Beach, Chinatown, and Union Square as they solve a list of riddles. Each riddle directs them to a specific location (ex: historic plaque, a parking meter, retail store) where they’ll find a code hidden in plain sight. Teams will race to be the first to turn in their answers at the start/finish in Portsmouth Square.

Prior to the hunt, each team raises or donates a minimum of $350 to participate. Teams are 2-6 people; if you have 6 people on your team, that's less than $60 per person. Raise the funds with an online fundraising page or offline with our list of ideas. By becoming a fundraiser for Clinic by the Bay, you can be a part of this volunteer-driven, neighborhood solution to the national healthcare crisis -- and have fun in the process!

Here's how it works:

  1. Create a fundraising page with the link below
  2. Recruit 1 to 5 others to join your team which will work together during the hunt (teams are 2-6 people)
    • you can each share the link for one fundraising page or each create your own
  3. Share the link to your fundraising page(s) on social media and/or in emails to your friends, family, and colleagues
    • Each team of 2-6 people must raise or donate a total of $350 by October 19th to participate
    • Earn hints for for the riddles when your team hits fundraising milestones at $500, $750, and $1,000
  4. Join us for the Hunt on Saturday, October 19th in Portsmouth Square. Check-in will start 1pm. The hunt will start promptly at 2pm and end at 5pm. A brief award ceremony will follow.
  5. Two teams will win, the team that finds the most codes the fastest, and the team the raises the most money.
